This page explains each field in Listing Maintenance associated with Power Production, which is to highlight that the property includes photovoltaic (solar) or wind power.

Power Production Type

This field lists for selection the types of power production systems available on the property.

Definition
Photovoltaic
Solar Photovoltaic (PV) devices generate electricity directly from sunlight via an electronic process that occurs naturally in certain types of material called semiconductors and powers electrical devices or sends electricity to the grid. More information is available at the Solar Energy Industries Association site.
WindRenewable form of onsite power generation. Wind turbines use wind to make electricity. Powers electrical devices or sends electricity to the grid. More information is available at the Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy site.

Mount Location

This field describes where the photovoltaic devices (solar panels) are mounted.

Selection options: Ground and Roof.

Mount Type:

This field describes how the photovoltaic devices (solar panels) are affixed to their location.

Selection options: Fixed Rack, Pole, Tracker.

Power Production Size

This field describes the capacity of a renewables system. Size is measured in kilowatts (kW) DC (referring to direct current). kW indicates how much power the system can produce under standard conditions, like the size of a car engine. Renewables systems are sized when they are installed to cover all or a portion of the power needs of the property. Therefore, a system designed to produce 50% of the power needs will be sized smaller than a system on the exact same property designed to produce 100%. Size may be influenced by available space at the property, orientation, landscaping, etc.

Power Production Annual

This field describes the amount of power it produces per year, the most important metric of a renewables system. This number can be actual or estimated. Annual production for systems producing electricity like wind or solar are measured in kilowatt hours (kWh) per year. A kWh is like a measure of distance traveled per hour for a car - how far did it go over a certain period of time. Annual production is influenced by the size of the system, the conditions (how shady are the trees - how many cloudy days etc), and the installation. Sellers typically have access to software that provides historical production totals.

Power Production Annual Status

This field allows the status of the number shown for Power Production Annual to be clarified as the number entered in the Power Production Annual field can be actual or estimated, or a combination if less than 12 months of actual data is available (any missing months of actual data is extrapolated).

Definition
Actual
Annual production derived from 12 or more months of actual data. The most recent 12 months is preferred because systems can degrade, albeit slowly, over time and, more importantly, conditions (e.g., trees) can change; therefore, older data might over- or under-estimate current production amounts.
Estimated
Annual production as estimated at the time or before the system began operations.
Partially Estimated
Annual production derived from less than 12 months of actual data, and therefore extrapolated to estimate annual production.

Power Production Year Install

The year renewables system was installed. Ideally this should be the year the system was interconnected with the grid and began producing power. Renewables systems have limited lifespan and year installed helps buyers and appraisers determine remaining useful life of the system.

Power Production Source

The source of the green data. May address photovoltaic characteristics or a verified score, certification, label, etc. This is a pick list of options to describe the source.
